Serving all of the Grosse Pointe communities and St. Clair Shores

Artemis Pet Care & Massage offers a wide variety of canine therapeutic massage services provided in the comfort of your pet's home. We will work with you to put together a custom tailored combination of massage techniques to promote the total health and wellness needs of your pet.

New Client Services

For massage clients the initial consultation and massage session includes a thorough assessment and veterinary history, gait analysis, palpation of tissues, and an introductory evaluative massage. We will discuss your dog's behavioral, physical and medical history in detail. During this visit we will review any concerns and design a plan to suit your pet's specific needs.

Canine Massage

Massage is an excellent tool to maintain the overall physical health and emotional well-being of your pet. At Artemis Pet Care & Massage, your dog will be massaged in the comfort and convenience of your home. Canine massage is suitable for both the young active dog as well as the older, less mobile dog. Massage is great for preventing injury too if your dog leads an active life working as an agility dog, a show dog, a therapy dog or a service companion. Massage helps mitigate pain from past injuries, manage chronic diseases, and keep the body in the best condition possible.

Compared to the cost of medical expenses, routine massages are but a small investment in a healthy future. Canine massage sessions are generally 30 minute, 45 minute or 60 minute sessions. The massage techniques and the duration of each session will be tailored to suit your pet's therapeutic needs. There are many variables and consideration will be given to the size of the dog, the breed, age, physical limitations and any other health and behavioral issues.

The Benefits of Canine Massage

Pets are part of our family. We treat them with care and respect and want them to feel emotionally and physically well balanced and secure. Like humans, dogs experience the same emotional and physical stressors. They may go through emotional stress perhaps due to separation anxiety, mood changes, or loneliness. Dogs often feel the aches and pains of aging as a result of arthritis, joint stiffness and poor circulation. Massage has a healing effect providing relief not only physically, but mentally as well. Massage brings the same benefits to dogs as it does to humans.

Among other benefits, massage:

  • Fosters feelings of security, bonding and positive emotional health
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Speeds recovery following exercise, injury or surgery
  • Decreases stress and anxiety
  • Increases circulation
  • Improves joint mobility and flexibility
  • Reduces pain, swelling and stiffness to aid arthritic joints
  • Promotes longevity and slows degenerative processes
  • Can detect problem areas that may otherwise be overlooked
